Considered to be Austin's first suburb originating in 1891, Hyde Park is one of the most densely populated areas of the city. Hyde Park is located very near to University of Texas, the area is bordered by Koenig to the north, 38th Street to the south, Guadalupe Street to the west, and I35 to the east. The streets of Hyde Park are nicely shaded by mature trees and most Hyde Park houses are very well-maintained despite their age. The parks in the area frequently have joggers and children playing. In the southeast section of Hyde Park is Hancock Golf Course. Hancock Golf Course was established in 1899 by Lewis Hancock Jr., the former mayor of Austin from 1895 to 1897. Hancock golf course is a 9-hole course that is one of the oldest golf courses in Texas. Hancock Golf Course was originally the site of the Austin Country Club and maintained 18-holes. The beautiful course features well-manicured greens that navigate the hills over Waller Creek. Hancock Golf Course provides a quick 9-holes before or after work for Hyde Park residents!
