Meet Chris Matthews - Austin Home Seekers
Originally from suburban Michigan, Chris Matthews received a BA degree in Psychology at a Christian college located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Chris believes his degree in Psychology instilled in him a firm foundation for listening to clients' needs and implementing a plan to meet them. During his time in college, Chris met his wife Gracie, a South Korean international student.
After graduating college, Chris and his wife made the decision to work in South Korea where they launched an English teaching program at one of the country's largest preparatory school chains. The program achieved great success and within a short-time employed and supervised over 20 English teachers from countries around the world. South Korea brought new adventures for Chris and his wife. He was selected to star in a South Korean TV drama called My Mother is the Strongest (translated) as the main character's teacher. Chris and his wife got the travel bug out early in life visiting many eastern countries including Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Once back in America, Chris moved to Austin, Texas where he launched a career in real estate. Despite moving to the city not knowing a soul, he has built an incredibly successful real estate career through the development of a personable connection with his clients. Along the way, Chris and his wife welcomed three beautiful boys into the world who are the pride and joy of their lives.
Now in the real estate industry for over 13 years, Chris owns and manages Austin Home Seekers real estate agency. He holds a Real Estate Broker's License exemplifying a superior knowledge and experience level in the real estate industry. Chris has achieved tremendous success in the Austin real estate industry being named a Finalist in the Platinum Top 50 Realtors multiple times, including 2019 and 2020. In 2018, Chris filmed for the national television program House Hunters on HGTV assisting clients locate their perfect home in the Allandale neighborhood of Central Austin.
Other designations and certifications Chris has achieved are Seller Representative Specialist (SRS), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Home Marketing Specialist (CHMS), Certified Negotiation Expert (CNS), and Short Sale & Foreclosure Resource (SFR).
