H-E-B
H-E-B is a grocery store chain heavily prevalent in Texas and one of the largest independent food retailers in the nation. Founded in 1905 by Florence Butt with just one grocery store in Kerville named C.C. Butt Grocery Store, Florence's youngest son, Howard Edward Butt, took over the store and it's expansion plans after returning home from World War I. Adopting Howard's initials in a renaming, H-E-B currently has over 340 stores and nearly 80,000 employees. Based in San Antonio, Texas, the grocery store is the 25th largest retailer in the United States. HEB introduced Central Market in Austin in 1994, aimed at offering organic and international food selections. H-E-B has a extremely positive reputation for it's generous charitable donations, which include giving 5% pretax earnings to community causes it operates in.
