Texas State Government
With the capital of Texas in Austin, the State Capitol is close to home! The executive branch of the Texas State Government consists of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Comptroller of Public Accounts, Attorney General, Land Commissioner, Agricultural Commissioner, Texas Railroad Commission, State Board of Education, and the Secretary of State. The Legislature branch of the Texas State Government has 150 members in it's House of Representatives and 31 members in the Texas Senate. The judiciary branch has two courts of last resort: Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. There are also numerous County and District courts. Texas State agencies employ almost 150,000 full-time equivalent employees.
